Not everyone in our community knows this, but I have a secret love.
Datta knows about it, so it’s okay.
I am in love with Business, and I love building our business.
Why? Because it is creativity and love in action. It brings us independence, freedom to travel when we want, the lifestyle we want, and so much satisfaction working with people who are willing to do the work to be a leader who transforms lives.
I also have the privilege of mentoring entrepreneurs in the start-up phase, all the way up to people in the half a million in revenue per year range.
In this week’s episode of Awaken TV, I share the top 5 business books I have read over the last few years that made a huge difference in my business.
I highly recommend you pick up at least a few of these if you are an entrepreneur or an ambitious professional wanting to make an impact at your workplace.
This is our final week preparing for our annual event on business, speaking, leadership, presence. With over 250 people registered we know we’ll be seeing many of you very soon.
Much love,
P.S. If you are one of those courageous people who really want to take their business and their income to the next level, you still have 7 days to get to Awaken Your Impact. It’s not too late. We’d love to see you! All the details are here: http://AwakenYourImpact.com
Great suggestions Rachael. That gave me a few new ones to read.
My favorites are:
1) The Ultimate Sales Machine by Chet Holmes
2) Power vs. Force
3) The Story Factor
4) Being You, Changing the World by Dain Heer
5) The Ultimate Marketing Plan by Dan Kennedy
Thanks Mande! It’s the 3rd time in the last month that I have been recommended The Ultimate Sales Machine. Okay…I get the signal this time 🙂
I enjoyed Power vs Force a few years ago too. Thanks for the tips.
Hi,
I noticed there was a spot for a video, I’m guessing, but nothing was there. Did you mean to leave the big gap in your text?
River
PS Big fan of yours!
Hi River, Datta Here. Try refreshing your browser, and let me know if that works. The video is there, but sometimes the internet does funny stuff. Do you see the video on the other blog posts?
PS. I’m a big fan of Rachael Jayne, too.
RJG, YOU are a delight!
OMG, I just LOVED Good To Great! It continues to Inspire me, teach me, and call me further into my life… THANK GOD for that book, by Jim Collins. Love AwakenTV! You look beautiful and it’s so great to get to rely on seeing you each week 🙂 It’s awesome.
Thanks Amanda! Reliability is big in business so I’m glad you feel that.
I havent read any of these so thanks Rachael Jayne for the recommendations. A recent book that I found really inspiring and interesting is The $100 Startup: Fire Your Boss, Do What You Love and Work Better to Live More. The author gives tons of examples of small buinesses that have started out with very little and are now running very successfully and many being businesses that can be run from anywhere in the world (with mobile and wifi access of course!) This one certainly gets the creative juices flowing!
I love the subtitle of the book you recommend Amanda. Fire Your Boss, Do What you love and Work better to live better. Thanks for the tip.
Rachael Jayne, I love Tim Sanders’s work, especially “Love Is the Killer App” where he says that nice, smart people succeed in this new economy. That’s great news!
I’d sure love to also have a text paragraph to read rather than ( or as well as) a video. I can read alot faster than a 5 min video. Then I have the names and authors of the books too. Thanks!
Thanks for the suggestion Janah. I will consider this for future videos. Much love RJ
HI Rachel,
Thanks for those recommendations! I also LOVE Delivery Happiness!
I also LOVE:
The Slight Edge by Jeff Olsen,
Start with Why and Leaders Eat Last by Simon Sinek
Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
Great suggestions Anne! Thanks for sharing.
I loved the book: Guerrilla Publicity by Jay Conrad and Rick Frishman
I am going to browse all of your suggestions at Amazon right away
RJG you are so inspiring I am glad I found you!
From Mexico,
Juracy
Thanks Juracy. It’s so lovely to read your comments each week. Hi from Colorado.
Wow what a wonderful selection! Thank you Rachel
I’m glad you like! They were powerful for me.
Great list – thanks Rachael for sharing. I too am an introvert so I just picked up “Good in a Room” at your suggestion.
My favorite all time “romance book” (love that by the way) is The E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber. Each year I reread it and always recommend it to my clients and students. It totally changed the way I look at my business when I first read it more than 10 years ago and with each re-read I get new ideas and inspiration.
I too can’t get too much of non-fiction!
The book How The World Sees You by Sally Hogshead recently blew my mind and helped me position myself and my business. Talent is Overrated by Geoff Colvin takes deep practice out of the realm of athletes and musicians and translates it to the business world. The 4-Hour Work Week by Tim Feriss and The $100 Startup by Chris Guillebeau really solidified my desire to go out on my own after one failed attempt at freelancing. I know a lot of people who swear by Getting Things Done by David Allen, and it impressed me too – until my mentor’s book Get It Done (by Samantha Bennett) simplified things even further for me.
Like Janah, I prefer a transcript. I’m a fast reader with an internet provider who does not provide unlimited data. I believe YouTube provides that service. Not that I don’t love watching you! 🙂
Hi Rachael,
great tips! Will look into that.
I loved ‘the inner game of work’ from T. Gallwey (I read it many years ago).
Also non fiction, but not directly management/businessbook: Iron and Silk from Mark Salzmann.
He is a cellist and martial arts practitioner who went to China to teach english classes. With a lot of humor he is describing his journey, practice and coping with cultural differences. Really loved that one!
might be an interesting book for Datta as well 😉
Hey Maryjane, the love coach! Rachael Jayne – I am a non-fiction lover as well. I love how it inspires me to grow and imagine. My favourite biz book is “Book Yourself Solid: Michael Port for practical know-how to get clients and The Charge by Brendon Burchard to living with energy and enthusiasm in business and all you do. http://www.thelovecoach.com
