It was an unlikely place to receive such a big aha about my life.
Datta and I decided that for our last day off in Japan, we would visit Fuji-Q to celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary. Fuji-Q is an amusement park people from all over the world visit because they have some of the highest, fastest, and scariest rollercoasters on the planet. We thought it would be fun, after my much-younger brother had visited and said it would be awesome!
One of the rollercoasters stops completely still for just for a moment at the very top of its run— and that was when the insight came. In this weirdest of places, this insight confirmed to me the reason we feel emotional pain, and how to stop the suffering.
I shot this week’s Awaken TV in Fuji-Q. It’s a fun episode and an important reminder for all of us who struggle from time to time with the way things unfold in our life.
Watch it here and get some laughs (at my expense). Just so you know, I will not be riding a rollercoaster like that EVER AGAIN!
I’d love to hear from you below the video. Post a comment about what this means for you.
Much love,
Brilliantly stated. Love this message! So true in my life… I also loved the background of the carousel and roller coasters and your Queen’s wave at the very end. 🙂
What an absolute brilliant insight. I had something similar a few years ago while paragliding. Thank you for reminding me that small or big awakenings can happen at any old place!!!
I don’t like rollercoasters but lately my life has been as if I was riding one and don’t seem like it won’t stop long enough for me to get off and get my self back together again.i’m about tired of life and all it’s lies and deceptions that trick you into staying in this world.
You are not alone , help will come if you keep chanting Om Namo Narayani
Dear Shelia Marie, my heart goes out to you. I recall feeling this way at one point when I was going through a really intense period of personal growth. I was open to my growth process, but the intensity just felt like it was getting to be too much. I felt like I really needed a break and so I prayed for one. I basically prayed that thing’s just slow down so I have a chance to integrate what I was learning. And I felt graced with the fact that things did slow down after that. I got the reprieve that I was looking for so that I could catch my breath. Then when I was ready for more I let that be known and the internal work began again. Even though the world is full of deception, I found that I can find solace in my connection with the Divine and ask for what I need and the response comes. We are held. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this challenging time. Love & blessings, Valerie
Omg my heart jumped , um no I couldn’t just sit and relax on a roller coaster and go with the flow at this point lol. Good for you for doing it though !!!! Glad your having fun !!!
I LOVE this! Thank you, Rachael Jayne, for this magnificent insight. WooHOOOOO!
A great insight on life! Thank you Rachael Jayne!
I know for me when I get out of my box (the house), and travel on the road, I find the greatest insights in life are in nature and at art museums or museums in general. I find that if I read the stories of the people who created the art work and the museums , there is a deep appreciation, and there is big shift that happens for me during the process.
I would love to see more videos of you in nature and having insights after a walk or hike.
What a fabulous clip and message that made SO much sense, Rachael Jayne! I absolutely love roller coasters, but I’m not sure I could handle those with “ease and grace”!
Love this teaching! And what a great way to really experience it in your PHYSICAL BODY! Thanks so much for sharing. I just wish I could be there with you.
It’s the jump. Putting my foot out there had so much resistance in it that I nearly didn’t jump at all. While I was doing it, I sobbed, I cried, and I reached the point of exhaustion. HOWEVER, there was this teacher on the other side. She called me to myself. Funny lady with a funny husband who know how to help me let go. Best thing I ever did, Rachael Jayne. Thanks again for continuing to remind me that we can jump and not fall but go with the flow and just soar!
<3
Going with the flow is so much easier than holding on. Living on the river as I do I think about that a lot. What happens when you grab on to a tree branch going down a river in a canoe? You guessed it! I had that experience once back east with someone in my canoe grabbing a branch out of fear. We all got wet! Life is meant to go smoothly if we stay open to our guidance and “let go” of the fear. Thank you Rachael Jayne! <3
Wonderful insight, and perfect timing
Great insight. Thanks Rachel Jayne. Love your coffee cup experience and queenly wave. Thanks for being such fun, sharing and making me laugh x
Love your insight and that you shared the experience of the roller coaster with us! So true and put such a big smile on my face! Thank you Rachel!
Ha ha I love it. I am a rollercoaster fan, granted it has been too long. I think its a great analogy AND what a fun way to deliver such a vital message . A couple of years ago I wanted to do something special with my soon to be 21 year old son, so I signed us both up for skydiving. ( he always said he wanted to do it, I stopped saying it by the end of my 20’s ). I spent the next few days seriously stressing about what I had gotten myself in to. As that moment got closer I was finally able to make peace with my choice and just go with it. My mind stopped freaking out and I surrendered to my choice and my fate. The whole ride in the plane and being flung from the sky became this practice of deep trust in what I could not control. Thank you for your guts girl !
Great insight, much of which is the way I normally tackle things. But as life progresses more and more challenges arise that dont push me to fear, but rather to walls. Currently attempting to rip the walls down and finding my next life’s chapter…youre very inspiring, thank you.
Amazing insight!!
Go with a flow with resistance, fear and what life brings us.
You made me feel like trying one of those rollercoasters. (I was born near Fuji-Q) Thank you, Rachael and the queenly smile made me laugh!
xoxo
wow Rachael, you are a guru! There is a Buddhist formula:
pain X resistance = suffering; make resistance = 0 and suffering disappears.
That’s exactly what you discovered on your own, so neat !
Thank you for sharing that with us al 🙂
Hey Rachel! Great message and how fun you got to Fuji-Q! Thanks again for a fantastic AFP weekend in Kiyo-sato! I just got back from Japan myself and am a bit jet-lagged but so grateful for the opportunity to go back ‘home’ after so long! Looking forward to connecting with you again soon! Matta-ne!
Thanks so much for this…a great reminder of my own journey on a ride at Disney World.
As I get motion sickness, I’m not one for rides, but my daughter had me travel with my grandson on one of the ‘easier rides’.
He held my hand as we were trust into darkness, going vertically up, lights flashing, so I closed my eyes, held on tight, as we continued, twisting and turning, up and down.
My inner voice told me to open my eyes and relax – so I did. Wow what a difference. Instead of feeling I was going to throw up, I get orientation, felt the thrill and could join in the enthusiasm of my grandson and the group – a great metaphor for life:)
Thanks for the memory!
LOLOLOL!!!!!!! 😀
So amazing to see you and Datta again <3 I was at Britt and saw several Toastie Alumni and told them what you guys are doing now. Fabulous stuff. What an inspiration you are, thank you!
Fabulous post. Thanks for having the courage to post it in such a clear concise elegant way. Putting knowlege and knowing together for myself and others to remind us of the simplicity of being present in the moment. Thanks for your courage, determination and clarity beautiful lady.
Love this video blog! Huge insight! Thank you for sharing it. Something for me to think about.
